Calgary Apartments

There are a wide variety of Calgary Apartments for Rent either on long or short-term lease, ranging from city apartments to sprawling country residences. Deep in the East of Canada lies Calgary, home of the 1988 Winter Olympics, one of the earliest homes of the 'Mounties' (Fort Calgary) and home to various museums and other attractions.
Canada is especially appealing to British travellers because of the fact that we have a common language and heritage. It is the kind of destination that a Brit is likely to adopt as a second (or even first) home.

Working in Canada is a real prospect for UK residents that want to spread their wings a bit, and whilst Canada is certainly 'across the pond', the culture shock is not so great as may be presented by many European cultures, and having the language and similar standards of education helps.
In fact there are many students who start their Canadian adventure with a study scheme that sees them exchange places with a Canadian university student.
Calgary itself in within easy reach of some northerly American cities such Seattle and Washington, and therefore offers experiences uniquely Canadian alongside the possibilities of the chance to experience some American culture at the same time.

Cars Sales Milan

Travelling around the world (as I would very much LIKE to do a lot more of...) brings you into contact with great characters, and as a traveller, it is businessmen/women of one type of another that you are coming into contact with. Whether it be your hotelier, a shopkeeper or maybe a car mechanic. Often you will find (especially in Southern Europe) a proliferation of small and medium-sized family businesses. Whilst many people you will come into contact with during your travels will have some grasp of the English language, it is likely that a good proportion will have little or no English at all.
In general terms, having a fundamental grasp of the local language is more important in say France or Italy, than it would be in Germany or Switzerland.
In Milan for instance you may see the sign: vendita auto usate (used cars for sale), or you may see auto usate milano (Milan used cars). Local knowledge will probably guide you towards 'GarageDelParco' as the best place in Milan for personal service when it comes to purchasing vehicles. If you are planning a long visit to Milan, purchasing a used vehicle could prove less costly than a long term hire, especially as GarageDelParco will also compro auto usate (buy used cars) from you after you have finished with them, and refurbish them before selling them on again.
Having a skilled workforce allows them to be able to buy cars and get them into pristine condition before selling them again. Being a family-run business means that they take special pride in their work and reputation as a solid and trustworthy company. A quick look at the history of this company tells you that it has been operating since it was opened in the 1960's by the father of the current manager, and the daughter is also still involved in running the financial side of the company.
The company seeks to maintain the old values of customer care within the physical confines of thoroughly modernised premises.

Renting in Morocco

For those people looking a little further afield, and interested in a different cultural experience, Morocco is becoming a hot-spot especially with celebrities. Apparently quite a few A-listers have been ploughing their hard-earned cash into bricks and mortar in Marrakesh amongst other places.

I have always preferred the idea of experiencing foreign cultures from within the community rather than from the outside and holiday apartments are a great way to steep oneself in the local culture more than if one is staying in a hotel environment. Whether you are considering bargaining with traders for exotic goods in the busy markets of the towns and cities, or sunning yourself in one of the rentals on Morocco's coast, a variety of properties are available all through the year.

Morocco offers a variety of activities, the architecture and scenery naturally lends itself to traditional sight-seeing and photography. Shopping is a popular activity, but don't expect high street shopping here, vast, varied markets offer handcrafted delights from carpets to food or trinkets.
Souks (traditional markets) are open Mon-Sun 0900-1300 and 1530-1900.

Morocco has beaches on the Atlantic and on the Mediterranean, the ones on the Med offering warmer water, more intimate beaches and a proliferation of small fishing villages to add colour. The Atlantic beaches are more suited to water sports enthusiasts such as surfing, kite-boarding or jet-skiing.

For UK visitors, Morroco is on a very similar timeline, so jet-lag should never be a problem either travelling to or from Morroco.

Combining travel and surgery

Traveling abroad to have cosmetic surgery is not a new idea, but generally this has been understood to mean having procedures carries out in sometimes less-than hygienic conditions in Eastern European countries.
Imagine then, if you will, a very different idea: visiting your dentist in Cancun! Cancun Cosmetic Dentistry has opened a practice with the highest clinical standards in the world famous Mexican resort of Cancun with the sole intention of treating clients from the UK, USA and Canada. The aim is to be able to combine the holiday of a lifetime with the idea of taking advantage of high quality cosmetic dentistry at a fraction of the normal costs.
The owner is Dr. German Arzate who promises to be able to give you a completely new smile in just a week. During that week, you will be in the most beautiful surroundings available anywhere, and be able to lounge on the beaches, go diving or visit some unique Mexican archaeological attractions. You will also be in a clinical environment that is completely geared towards English-speaking patients - imagine bringing the perfect smile home as a permanent reminder of your holiday...

New Technology

New technology is moving us away from traditional High Street shops and large retailers for goods which are becoming obsolete whilst they sit on the stock-room. Any product that has an element of computer memory like RAM, hard-drives and flash drives becomes out-dated within months.
There is no technology that moves quicker than PC/Phone and media devices, and the demand for iphone accessories and add-ons increasingly finds satisfaction via internet retailers in preference to the high street. Whether you are looking for an iphone case or an iphone dock, you will find a far larger range of choices available on the world wide web, than you will on the shelves of your local electronics retailer.

In the past people may have been wary about this new way of buying, but year on year it is proving more and more popular. The prices are keen and in most cases the service is excellent, yet there are some precautions we should take to ensure that our chosen trader is legitimate.
  • You should always look for contact details such as an address or telephone number, check out the contact details to make sure that they are correct.
  • Check to see if there is a VAT number and company registration.
  • Look for a trading history and check out any testimonials that might be posted on the site.
  • Be cautious of any offers that are ridiculously cheap unless there is a legitimate reason for the price reduction.
Over recent years, I have built up a select group of websites that I routinely check for bargains exclusively in the area of 'boys toys', computer storage and components.

What to do in London?

It's exciting to travel to a new City whether it be a day trip within your own country or a long overseas trip, but when you get, there you may well realise that you don't know the best places for a quick bite, or where to get the best entertainment, a quiet pint or a gourmet meal.

That's when a site like Qype comes in - an extensive insight into night-life, restaurants and watering holes with reviews completed by ordinary folk like you or me.
The information on their database is not limited to night-life, you can search for a hairdresser, travel information, libraries or any number of services that you might require when staying away from home.

By default, the site shows information for London in general, but simply by clicking on the link to 'change', you can select any UK city or even a specific area of London. Ideal if you are searching for restaurants london by name or by district. Qype extends globally, and you can select from a list of countries and then select an area within that country. In fact, you can use Qype to gather information about your home town too - I checked out information about local parks and leisure centres, and was surprised to find not only a full list of amenities, but personal reviews written for every search result that came up - even reviews of local parks...

Whatever you are looking for, Qype is essentially a directory, but importantly a directory with a difference. The Qype directory not only gives you bare essential information such as address and essential contact information – it gives you an independent review from the viewpoint of an ordinary customer or facility-user. Next time you are stuck for a venue, or a shop or just need to do a search for pubs london why not try Qype, not only will you find something in your chosen locality, you will learn something about it too.

Holiday footwear from Dansko shoes

Don't get caught out when vacation time comes around and you haven't got any suitable footwear... as the boy scouts always say: 'Be Prepared'. I am one of those who like to be ready for every eventuality, but the latter-day restrictions on flight luggage mean that having multi-purpose footwear is a must.

Casual quality is the order of the day; something that you can wear all day and that would not look out of place in a fancy restaurant is the ideal footwear for packing in your suitcase. My personal recommendations (and I used to sell shoes years ago) would be something from Rockport, Ecco or Dansko Shoes for holiday wear and for the ladies who still want a bit of glamor, check out Beautifeel Shoes for comfort that does not compromise on style.

Admittedly the task of finding dual-purpose footwear is considerably easier for men, as the constraints of fashion have little effect on the basic form of men's footwear. For holidaying women however, there may need to be some compromise of high-glamor in favor of something a little more practical unless your holiday will only take you to the chicest boutique hotels, fine dining venues and night-life of somewhere like glamorous Monte Carlo or sophisticated London.

Running away to get married

For generations English folk have been running away to Scotland to get wed, mainly because of the relaxed Scottish marriage laws, but since rules about where couples can get married were relaxed there are some wedding venues in scotland more attractive even than Gretna Green where you can enjoy your big day.
There still remains a degree of romance in having your wedding in scotland and it is certainly a beautiful place to have a honeymoon away from the crowds of shoppers and sunseekers. Romantic and remote images are conjured up by images of the Highlands of Scotland, it's wind-swept shores and craggy purple-heathered scenery.
Hoscote House is the most complete wedding venue I have seen, with it's wild scenery, imposing house and fine estate. It can also serve as a self-catering accommodation for up to 33 people, so your wedding party can take all week if you want. Nowadays Scotland is not just a place for English runaways to get married without their parents permission, folk from all over the world are travelling to Scotland to get married in the most romatic of settings.

Off to Sunny Spain

Planning for Summer Holidays is upon us and as a holiday destination, Spain is still bound to be one of the most popular places visited by UK holidaymakers. Having been top of the favourite destination lists for decades, Spain still has plenty to offer in it's various resorts and Islands. A package holiday in a Hotel remains the most popular way to visit, but there is an up and coming holiday rental market for Villas in Spain offering a viable alternative to those who prefer a little more privacy.
A Spanish driving holiday will open up some of the wonders of Spain mostly left unexplored by generations of UK tourists. Most visitors would opt to hire a car for this type of Holiday, yet it would be entirely feasible to travel through France and bring your own car to Spain over a few days or even catch a car ferry to Bilbao.
Whether you opt for traditional resorts such as Costa del Sol or Rent a holiday villa in Tenerife, or The Canaries, Majorca, Costa del Almeria... Spain is geared up for your holiday needs, guaranteed sunshine and fabulous food come as standard. If you venture outside your complex, with a little Tourist information you can also find culture and fabulous scenery to match the beautiful beaches that Spain is famous for.

Let's get the tent out...

At this time of year our thoughts turn to the great outdoors as the weather starts to look like camping is more of a realistic option and less of a pursuit for madmen...
Now it is a well established fact in my mind that US clothing manufacturers make some of the best outdoor gear available, and have made several purchases from US manufacturers in the past. One of the elite outdoor clothing sites I have come across is the 'LA Police Gear' site which has every possible item you could need along with quite a lot that you wouldn't.. for instance, you probably shouldn't be considering the Blackhawk Holsters if you are a UK citizen as taking a hand-gun on a camping trip would be considered a little extreme in Britain.. However, this accentuates the fact that LA Police Gear is a serious site with some serious bits of kit on offer, prices are keen are there are always some great bargains to be had.

How green is your travel?

The travel industry is under a lot of pressure today from various different angles. Firstly there was the massive hike in fuel prices that have had disastrous effects across the industry, followed closely by a global recession which has decimated travel order books for the coming months. All the time there is the spectre of environmental considerations looming in the background, as the travel industry has been highlighted as a major user of fossil fuels. Not only the travel companies themselves, but their clients too where they are part of large corporations, municipal bodies or charities are obliged to examine their carbon footprint and declare publicly that they will pledge to be 'green'.
There are a number of options that the travel companies can pursue to paint a greener picture and turn the situation to their advantage with some clever Travel Marketing.
Carbon off-setting is a popular way to give the right impression, but there are other avenues such as being associated with research into new fuels and technologies. All industries should be working towards showing willingness to be greener, but the travel industry in particular needs to give assurances to their customers, that they are concerned about environmental issues. This could be done simply by replacing any fleet road vehicles that they might own with dual-fuel or green fuel vehicles. The impact on the public is not so much in the detail as in the way in which this is publicly perceived - that's the beauty of marketing.

Holiday Bargains

The US has always been a place where bargains are to be had, this is why shopping trips to New York are so popular, even in these harsh economic times where the pound hardly holds it's own against the dollar. Traditionally things like electronics and even motor vehicles carry a price tag in dollars which is equivalent to our prices in pounds - ie. a £20,000 car can be had for $20,000 stateside.
There is one commodity I have found that even beats the dollars for pounds price reverse, and surprisingly it turns out to be spectacles. Now I am sure that the US has it's fair share of pricey opticians, but the eyeglasses I am referring to are from one website in particular. This website 'zennioptical.com' has recently been featured in a New York Times article about how to get the best deal when buying new glasses. The 'Zenni' website was hailed as providing 'bargain' spectacles for as little as $8, pointing out that the average price for frames alone is $118!
Take the example above, titanium bendable memory frames for $12.95 including lenses... If you know your prescription, you can have these made and shipped out to you. If you fancy a trip to California to pick up your glasses, think of how much you will save and offset that against the price of your ticket..
I have not yet had the need to get glasses but as I get further into my forties I am just putting off the inevitable... If I'd have found glasses that looked this good for this price before now, I would have been more than happy to hear that I finally needed some specs. Of course with my habit of sitting on nearly every pair of sunglasses I have ever had, the bendable frames would be a must!

Getting away for Christmas

There is nothing like leaving all the trappings of home behind you and heading off to a hotel to be waited on hand and foot over Christmas – Let the hotel take the strain of getting everything trimmed up properly, getting the meals made on time and entertaining the family whilst you put your feet up and have that relaxing break that you so thoroughly deserve.
Not everyone wants to get away at Christmas, but even those who are family-oriented can assemble all their far-flung family members at one hotel and all be relaxed together instead of squashed into one house, getting under one another's feet and then dispersing off to various hotels at different points in the evening.
This type of service is becoming more and more popular and is available all over the country in places like East Sussex Hotels amongst others.
These hotels offer the chance to not only relax but to treat your loved ones to a well-catered Christmas with no cooking and washing-up duties to be argued over and no unwanted callers or phone-calls to disturb your family time. You can be as far away from the distractions of the mobile, the house phone and the computer as you really want to and not feel guilty about turning your back on the technology that calls us away from the family at Christmas.
Many hotels offer great deals over Christmas to keep their rooms full and it may be no where near as expensive as you might at first imagine. I am using a hotel close to my family on Christmas day so that we are able to have our own space whilst still being close to family and friends – we can even entertain there if we want to, but the biggest advantage is that we can get the little one to sleep at a reasonable time in peace and quiet.

Self-catering in Tenby

With our purse strings being severely pulled in several different directions lately, the last holiday we had was in a Tenby Self Catering Cottage, well strictly speaking we were closer to Saundersfoot as that was the closest we could get to Tenby.
Now Tenby and the surrounding area has a lot to offer from Folly Farm to Pembertons Chocolate factory, the beaches, Caldey Island, plenty of castles and wonderful walks. Whether you are looking for a relaxing time, or are taking the family, every sort of holiday is catered for from karting and horse-riding to adventure parks and pretty gardens.

Of all the places in the UK that I have visited, Tenby and the Pembroke coast remains an absolute firm favourite not just with me, but with the whole family. And having experienced a few breaks in this area, I can say that without a doubt having a place of your own is definitely very relaxing, and being able to self-cater certainly makes the stay reasonably affordable.
Not that there are not plenty of places to eat out especially in Tenby itself, the Plantagenet remains a firm favourite though we can't afford to eat there on a daily basis (!) the Bay Tree is a nice place for a lunch-time meal, or how about a picnic on Caldey Island?
You will not lack for things to do in this most beautiful and rewarding corner of Wales.

Big Response Email Marketing

The best interactive tool to be introduced to Australia since the boomerang… each message sent using this system does not return without having hit it’s precise target with your specific message.

This Email marketing system is geared towards smaller businesses and specifically aimed at the Australian market. Big Response emails offer more than just a way to send your message to your clients, you can do that yourself, what they offer is a service that can tell you what your clients’ response is to your email…
  • Did they just open it and discard it?
  • Did they open it several times in a day?
  • Did they click on links within your email?
  • Which products were they clicking on?
All of this data can be collected from your emails that you send via Big response – if you’re not one of the 10,000 small businesses already doing this type of targeted emailing, then you are missing out…
The system works by collecting clicks from emails and recording the actions before re-directing them to the specific pages of your website – If you have a website, the you should think about using a service like Big response.

Camping in France

I have experienced a few holidays in France and I have stayed in quite a few different types of accommodation on the various trips that I have taken. I have 'enjoyed' some low budget hotels, some higher-end hotels, some delightful and extraordinary Bed and Breakfast places and have enjoyed Camping france holidays too.
I have been a fan of camping since childhood and it still offers a freedom not afforded by more formal accommodation. There are few restrictions on your coming and going, you can dress exactly as you want and the whole atmosphere offers more a more relaxing experience in my opinion.
Camping in France is very well organised and is well-established, there are places where you can take your own tent, caravan or motor-home as well as those places that offer ready-pitched tents for hire or mobile homes which offer facilities to rival a small hotel (often offering two bathrooms in the bigger units!).
Without exception, holidays in the great outdoors offer more relaxation and are particularly ideal for those who want to go home with some great photography of the flora and fauna of France. French camping venues are naturally in quiet rural spots which will also have some fantastic places to eat and drink at a fraction of the prices you would pay in a hotel or in a busy resort. There is no doubt that the French really know a thing or two about how to have a good evening out with good food and wine. A rural setting will give you great value for money when it comes to eating out, and if you want to cook for yourself (another advantage offered by a camping holiday), the local supermarche will be able to provide you with great food and an abundance of wine at reasonable prices. You can even seek yourself out a local 'cave' to experience local wine actually purchased from the vineyard.
Worth noting that often this local wine does not travel well, so unfortunately you will be better off drinking it all while you are still enjoying your holiday to avoid disappointment!!

Travel Advertising

It's difficult not to be drawn to Travel Advertising like a moth to a flame... It only takes a picture of clear blue skies, silver sands, the open ocean, or a busy metropolis for us to be scrabbling for our passports and credit cards.

Brits I feel are particularly susceptible to this type of imagery; exotic locations, fascinating foodstuffs, romantic scenery and the promise of unlimited shopping take us right out of our normal environment and persuade us that it is our destiny to be permanent travellers in search of warmer climes, better food and bargain purchases. We only need to open a travel brochure and we are there, on the veranda of a Spanish hideaway, sunning ourselves on a deserted beach or strolling through downtown Manhatten.

In days gone by, the need to save up for a holiday would lessen the immediate impact of travel imagery, but in the age of the credit card and internet purchasing the thought process from advert to purchase can be shortened to minutes rather then months. It is certainly true that the credit card has opened up foreign travel to a far wider client base. Even in these days of belt-tightening and credit-crunching, the family holiday is still an absolute necessity, we are still suckers for travel advertising.

London Credit Cards

New London credit cards have just been launched by HSBC and Barclaycard. These cards have been specifically designed to enable quick payments and easy travel within the City of London.
The barclaycards feature 'touchless' payment, incoporating the Oystercard system into two credit cards, one with cashback, one with balance transfer. The HSBC card offers the same facility on a standard credit card.

As well as being a touchless system, the deal offered on the Barclaycard OnePulse with Cashback credit card includes a huge 5%(!) cashback on London Travel and 0.5% on purchases everywhere else. You can use the touchless Oystercard system on many of the buses, tube, and trams within London.

When it comes to credit card comparison, bear in mind the added value of these new cards launched and make sure you take advantage of the facilities offered to enable quick and easy traveling through one of the busiest capital cities in the world today.

Looking for holiday gear

When I go on a vacation I like to do the sights, travel on local transport, hang out on the beach and do the sort of things for which multi-purpose clothing is required.
I like to pack good utility clothes for my holidays, the type of clothing that can withstand the rugged outdoors and is smart enough to be acceptable in a restaurant. Fewer clothes ranges come more rugged than the 5.11 Tactical range on the 511tactical outdoors website.
They have some great combats which are my favourite type of clothing of all time, and can be worn in pretty much any type of environment. I might stop short of actually taking a holster with me on vacation as I am not sure I would get through the airport with that, but the rest of the tactical clothing range is a perfect addition to your suitcase wherever you are bound.
